Project trip to Guinea, May to September 2021
Project trip of the Chairman of the Association Mr. Mohamed Lamine Touré to Guinea, May to September 2021, for preparation, networking and agreements on possible projects within the framework of development cooperation with organisations from Guinea Despite restrictions due to the pandemic, numerous contacts, including new ones, were made and needs were identified. A highlight of these meetings was the reception of Mr Touré by the German Ambassador Mr Meier-Tesch in the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Conakry. There was a lively exchange about the current challenges in Guinea and the plans of our organisation. Ambassador Meier-Tesch assured us of his help and the support of the Embassy.
Further meetings took place at the National Agency for Sanitation and Health Protection with the Director General Mrs Hadja Marie Touré. Mrs. Touré was able to assure us of her great interest in our projects with the aim of working on joint projects for the rehabilitation of the city of Conakry.
Also this year, our efforts were suddenly and unexpectedly interrupted. On 5 September, military units staged a coup against the government in Guinea. As a result, the current president Mr. Alpha Conde was overthrown and Colonell Mamady Doumbouya took power. At the same time, all ministers and senior staff of the government and ministries were dismissed. Since then, new appointments have slowly been made. Our organisation does not assess the military coup. However, according to the military regime, it is directed against corruption and abuse of power in the state institutions.
